Real, human connection is what all relationships are based on, not numbers.
While social media platforms are all constantly updating and introducing new features, one critical factor remains the same: nothing outperforms relationship building – with prospects, referrals or networks.
That human factor is what many companies miss, in pursuit of high numbers. But every follower is more than just a number – they’re (hopefully) a real human being.
High numbers can definitely be impressive, IF they’re truly indicative of a relevant, loyal and engaged following, which usually takes years to cultivate and nurture. The “know, like and trust” factor is alive and well, and still highly relevant. 10,000 followers sounds like a great metric, but it could be meaningless if those followers are disengaged, or altogether fake!
However tempting it may be to make the numbers your main focus, remember to build your network authentically, one day at a time and don’t forget the importance of connection! The world of social media is in a constant state of change, but building connected audiences is one aspect that has always been important.
